Aunt J's Baby Shower

Yesterday we took a day trip with Mema to go to Aunt J's baby shower. We had a great time and a ton of fun with little R.

Art Museum Field Trip

We had our Art Museum field trip this past Friday. We had a blast. We went with the homeschool group from our church. The teacher gave a little lesson on Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and then helped the little ones make their own version using food coloring, shaving cream, pastels and construction paper. It was the neatest art project. I so wish I could take credit for it.

Enjoy the pictures!

I don't think he was thrilled at being the only boy at the table. :)

Triplets+Paint+Mom Sleeping=TROUBLE!

I find it completely hysterical that I'm posting this drama right after my post on "Good Things Come in Three's" I think this is what you call irony.

Last night while at Bible study I got a really bad headache. I had some OTC headache pill and took two thinking I just ate supper an hour ago I'll be fine. Well, on the way home I started getting sick and needless to say my stomach was a little upset from the meds. I got home the girls were asleep in bed so I took a phenergan to help my stomach. It pretty much knocked me out. I woke up this morning about 8:30 knowing full well my girls had been up a good hour. So, I stumbled out of bed to go see why they were being so good.

I found them in their hall way with at least 12 or more bottles of finger and craft paint on the floor! IT WAS EVERY WHERE!!!!! The floor, the carpet, the walls, the bathroom sink/counter, the toilet, the rugs and their bodies were all covered in paint!!!!! I almost passed out. All I could think was it will never come out of the carpet!!!! I ran and got the little carpet spot cleaner machine and went to work right away on the living room carpet. Then I took the wipes to the floor. I used a whole brand new container of kitchen wipes to clean the floors, counter/sink, walls and toilet. Thankfully the paint was all water based and came up with out too much trouble. By the time I finished the bathroom floor I was over the shock and really wished I had taken pictures of the mess before hand. So, I stopped and got a few pics of one spot on the carpet and the trash bag full of paint and clean up wipes.

The girls are now grounded for the next 30 years and I'm not sure if I will every allow paint supplies to enter my house again.

There is one thing that is for sure...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER let MULTIPLES be awake when you are asleep!!!!!!! It's DANGEROUS!!!!! :)

This was one of the small carpet stains...I had already cleaned up 6 perfect foot prints in red and blue paint before I realized I need pictures to show.

Here you can see a perfect rainbow foot in a dress up clothes box.

This trash bag is full of the wipes I used to clean a carpet that was beyond repair and paint supplies I trashed.

Good Things Come In 3's

We had 3 new experiences this week:

On Monday we went ice skating for Cousin L's Birthday. What a blast. At first the girls used the walker type things to help keep their balance on the skates. Then by the end of the day they were all skating with out any help at all! They loved it and begged to go back for more the next day.

On Tuesday R climbed up in my lap and asked to please read. She has been hinting to me she was ready to sound out words but she wanted to read a story not just words. I went and got the Science reading Pace for her and she read the 1st three stories with little help from me. N then wanted a turn and read 2 stories. J read the 1st story. They are all doing really well. I will post a video of them reading later today. I'm so happy that I waited until they were ready and wanted to read. They love it and the pride in their faces when they finished that first story was priceless!

I have to say that hearing them each read for the first time has to be the biggest blessing to me for homeschooling. I got to teach them how to read. I got be hear them read for the first time! I got to see the light bulb of understanding go on in each little head at how putting the letter sounds together makes a word. This is one of the many reasons why we homeschool! So many moms miss out on this and will miss out on seeing the joy of each lesson learned. I am so thankful this is my full time job! I'm so thankful I did not miss this blessing!

On Thursday thanks to the beautiful weather we got to have school outside for the first time this year. We sat at the table in the back yard and had school. R said it was "the best thing ever!" While I did one on one work the other two played on the swing set. That is what school should be like for every K5 kid! They worked so well outside that they finished all of Friday's work on Thursday so they got to make sock puppets on Friday instead of doing Math and Reading. :) That is just another reason we love homeschool.

So, Did you have any firsts at your house this week?
