Homeschool and a New Look
So much has happened over the last week. We started homeschooling K5 last week. So far things are going so well. The girls love school and are really soaking up every morsel they are given. Last night I decided to give our blog a new look. What do you think? I love it! I also added a new feature stolen from Leann's blog to list books we want to add to our home library. So if you ever need a gift idea for the girls that would be the perfect place to start. :) Last Friday was Daddy's birthday. The girls helped to make him a cake and we went out to eat with Mema to celebrate. My camera was not working for me so I only got one picture. :( It was a fun day and I think daddy loved his new Wii game. Here are a few pictures of homeschool life in the Hen House....
The girls had to have a calendar! They had one in preschool and did activities with it each day. So, now we start each day with days of the week, weather, months and the "Days of the Week" song. :) They each have a job putting up the days of the week and weather.
My Rollie Cart! It's such a life saver. It has every thing! I love my Rollie Cart... each homeschool mom should have one.
Our Literature Activity for last week. We made a literature pocket. We studied the Nursery Rhyme "The Little Bird". The girls loved all the activities...

They each made a book, bird puppet and drawing of a bird. In R's drawing of her bird the other two started telling me she was not drawing a bird. I told her she had to have a bird on her page. She said, "I do mommy! He's inside the house I drew!" You got to love it!

Almost A Month...
....since my last post so I caught up today. I've been sick and on really strong antibiotics for 3 weeks. It had me feeling a little yucky and I fell behind on posting. I'm all better now and getting ready for the next adventure in our lives....Homeschooling. We start school on Monday so look forward to some interesting post. :)

August Fun & Corn Growing In My Kitchen!!!!!
Here are a few things we have been up to this August...
Aunt C invited us to spend some time with her at the beach while she was on vacation. So, as soon as the Doctor cleared me from my daily torture visits I packed up the van and asked cousin B to go with us. I was not allowed to go in the water and she was a huge help to Aunt C with the girls. They love the ocean and love the waves. So you have to keep your eye on them and a hand near because the waves would knock them wild and they loved it as long as you were near to offer them a helping hand in regaining there feet! :) We had a great 3 days at the beach!
When we came back home we found out that Mema had won a free family pass to the local water park. So, since I took cousin B with me to the beach the week before and this week she was at camp I took her younger sister and brother with us to the water park. I think L and K had a blast. Mema claimed them as her own grand kids and they let all 7 of us in for free. I think a family pass covers 4 people. :) The kids loved it. I think next year we will have to buy a membership so we can go more often.
I have corn growing in my kitchen! Yes, Corn!!! I'm not sure who thought this would be a great thing for 5 year old's to plant during a VBS craft but I think it was not so smart! I had no idea what they had planted when they brought these home. I was thinking a flower or herb. The girls kept saying it was corn and I was like no way! Then it started growing and I knew....It was corn! Hello people what am I supposed to do with corn stalks in my kitchen???? I mean that one little pot has 5 stalks growing in it! I guess we will have to set it out in the hot sun and see if that will help it "grow" but with all the low temps and rain we have been having I really don't think that will work. :) Any one need some corn for their freezer? Our corn crop is really doing well!
I just had to include this picture of N's hair! This was the morning after the water park! Can you say, " Rats nest?" What a mess. If I had known what praying for a child with curly hair really meant I would've thought a little harder before all those "please let one of them have curly hair" prayers! :) She is such a cutie pie....

July Activities
We took a trip to the Aquarium with my sister and her family. R and N were afraid to pose for this picture but as you can see Cousin L and K along with J were not! LOL
J surprised us at how brave she was being compared to the other two who would not go near the croc.
R was in a mood and spent the day attached to Daddy...
On the way home we decided to ride the fairy boat. The kids loved it!
On the way home from church Daddy promised R he would take her to see the river. So we stopped by the lock and dam to let the girls see the river. They thought is was a super treat. We also got to see a really big dead fish lying in the grass just pass the steps they were walking down. Gross!

Crock Potting
I love my crock pot! It's no secret but I don't tend to use it that much during the summer. That is why I was so impressed with this moms determination. Check out her Year Of Crock Potting! I was so inspired by her variety of recipes. I have already add a few to my menu for next week. I will have to post later on what I try and how we like it. It may be a little hard for me as we are now a peanut, egg and milk free family. LOL Thankfully I can use Lactaid to cook with.
